[0:09] Leading up to the start of my book club at the end of last year as a precursor to the start of the book club We did 30 days of listening to the audio of the strangest secret by Earl Nightingale, who prior to that was not necessarily a As well known a speaker or personal development guru as he is today today, Anybody who's in the personal development space you talk to them about the strangest secret. They know exactly what you're talking about, So, I want to share with you some of the principles that came out of this over 60 year old audio.
The first one is that we live in an age with abundant opportunity.
This was 60 years ago, but it's just as much true today.
Anything that you want to do or start, you can. Opportunity is abundant.
All you've got to do is search for it.
The second is that success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.
It's not necessarily about making a lot of money.
It's not just about what you do, but it's doing something that's worthwhile.
It's making a difference.
[1:20] The third, 95% of people forfeit success for conformity. People are afraid to be different.
And when you just conform to what everyone else is doing, success, you know, usually doesn't come to you.
Number four, instead of competing, all we have to do is create.
You don't have to compete with other people. You can create your own ocean.
You can read the Blue Ocean.
I think that's what it's called. Just look up Blue Ocean and there's a book by that title.
So look that up if you want to know more about that.
[1:58] Number five, people who set goals succeed because they know where they're going.
And I've talked a lot about this in the past. If you don't know where you're going, you'll get there every time because you're not heading anywhere.
So you'll get nowhere or you'll get somewhere. You'll get where other people want you to go, but not where you want to go.
Number six is that we all work hard. that set goals and people that don't set goals, both of them work hard. Life is hard, work is hard. Don't make it harder by working hard and not getting where you want to go. Set the right goals. Number seven, we become what we think about. I just did a five-part series on this last week about how to create the results that we want in life and it starts with the things that you think about, which is, you know, that comes from the things that you take into your mind.
[2:52] So take in good things into your mind. This audio, for example.
I'll drop a link in the show notes.
It's only about 30 minutes. Listen to it every day for 30 days.
And I actually have created a workbook that goes along with that.
If you want that, I'll try to drop a link in the show notes for that as well.
Number eight, believe and succeed. If you can believe it, you will do the work that it takes, to make it a success.
You'll keep after it until you figure it out.
You will keep pushing if you truly, truly believe it. Number nine, everything worthwhile in life came to us for free.
Think about your mind.
Think about your friends, your family, your physical abilities, your sight, your hearing, the fact that you can breathe.
All of that came to you free. And the things that cost us money are what we hang on to and we take the free stuff for granted.
Number 10, we must be willing to pay the price. Success does not come for free, whether it's good relationships, good health, or good financial situation.
It always comes with a cost and we have to pay that price. If we try to avoid it, it only leads to more hardship.
And number 11, ideas are worthless unless we act on them.
[4:19] Good ideas are a dime a dozen. I've had plenty. You've had plenty.
Ideas are everywhere.
But it's the action that you put around those ideas that create success.
[4:32] I hope I'll go drop a link for this audio in the show notes.
I hope you go listen to it. It's over on YouTube.
You can search The Strangest Secret or click the link in the show notes and download the, workbook to go along with it as well.
I can't wait to hear what you think about this. Do good work.
